Quick Tip Tuesday - Transporting Your Cricut
I recently learned that the cardboard boxes which came with my Cricut were to be kept and used during times that I travel with my machine. Apparently, these boxes secure the springs inside the blade housing unit. If your machine is new, or if you have kept your boxes, be sure to use them when you are transporting your Cricut.
But what about those of us who recycled our boxes after opening the machine? Not to worry, you can use bubble wrap. Before closing up your machine, remove the blade assembly unit from the machine. Next, manually move the blade housing unit to the centre of the cutting area. Take two bits of bubble wrap and tuck one on each side of the housing unit. They should fit fairly snugly to offer support. Finally, close the machine – and don’t forget to take your blade assembly with you!
* The blade housing unit is the “box-like” unit that holds the blade assembly, the cylindrical unit that removes from the machine and holds the blade itself.

Fantabulous Friday #28
Now that school is back in session, I wanted to share an easy way to scrap those summer vacation pictures! I love to use American Crafts 6x6 mini books to scrap trips. I created 3 mini books for a friend that took a vacation in Georgia. To make the scrapping more efficient, cut the same elements for multiple books. I use double sided papers for shapes so I can use either side and make each book a little different. These types of projects are also a great way to use up embellishments that never seem to have a home on a layout or card. Making minis are fun!!-Valerie

Thursdays Tutorials: Harvest Card Tutorial
In honor of this week's Harvest theme, I want to share this super-cute video tutorial I found by Lisa over at Bug Junkie. She used the Cricut Imagine and the Create a Critter cartridge, but you could certainly just use the CAC cartridge (or any cartridge with a pumpkin image) and different colors of cardstock and patterned paper to make your own harvest theme card! I just love this little pumpkin guy!

Quick Tip Tuesday – Cleaning Your Machine
I’ve had a suggestion to do a post about cleaning the Cricut machine. For me, the first step is a proactive one: I ALWAYS close my machine when I’m not using it. This way, less dust can enter the inside of the machine. When I do need to dust my machine, I use a dry cloth on the outside. Occasionally, I’ve also gently dusted the inside with a dry cloth. I like to use microfiber cloths as I find they pick up a lot of particles and don’t leave smears of dust.
If you have a Cricut Cake machine, you can use a damp cloth to clean the inside – in fact, that is recommended after each use. It is also important to clean the blade of the Cricut Cake after each use. It is recommended that you clean up immediately, before the fondant dries.
