Welcome to Quick Tip Tuesday!

I've just learned of a fantastic way to use both sides of a sheet of double-sided patterned paper on the same layout. It's so simple - and yet not something I had thought of! I learned this idea from Patti Behan.
Layout created by Patti Behan
Take a 12x12 (or whatever size you wish your layout to be) sheet of double-sided patterned paper. Using the fit-to-page feature of your Cricut, cut your desired shape. The shape must be symmetrical. Once cut, take the "scrap" piece (that is, the piece that is not your actual shape) and adhere it to the white page from your scrapbook sleeve. Then, flip the shape over and insert it in the blank area. What a great way to save paper!!

Patti also put together a video tutorial explaining the procedure.
Happy crafting!

  4. What a fantastic idea I would never of thought to do this. I know people who cut the middles out of large shapes to use when the middle is going to be covered with a photo or element but this is even better.

  27. Thanks for the money-saving tip! I always felt I needed to buy two sheet of a double-sided sheet otherwise I will run out of paper.
Another way is to cut a smaller "frame" from the background paper in the spot where your photos/matting/etc. will be. Then at least you have some (smaller) piece of paper left to re-use.
