Quick Tip Tuesday: Cutting Inside a Shadow

Hello Fellow Crafters and welcome to Quick Tip Tuesday!  Today's tip is something I do ALL the time in my effort to save paper (and our planet).  When designing my projects, I cut bits from inside the shadow layer.  Once the top layers are in place, it's impossible to tell that the shadow has bits cut out of it - although you will have to be careful if you are using a thin, light-coloured paper over a dark shadow.  For my project, I used a thick white cardstock over the black shadow and had no problems.

Finished card - with no evidence showing that the shadow has cuts in it
If you have a Quick Tip to share, I'd love to hear from you.  Please email your suggestion to me at smallbitsofpaper(@)hotmail(.)com (remove brackets!) and perhaps it will be highlighted here - with credit to you, of course.

Happy Crafting!

  12. Great tip. I've never really thought of this. I am such a perfectionist I wouldn't want the back to be messed up!! It really does save waste though.

  13. YES! I've done this, too!! It's especially great when you are working from that last little bit of the perfect colored paper and it would just break your heart to NOT have THAT color on that one last piece!!! :)
