Spotlight Sunday

Hello Friends! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! How is the weather where you live? Here in northern California, Fall is in full swing with some rain and colder temperatures, and I just love it! Almost feels winter-like...perfect paper crafting weather!

Today we are spotlighting Holly from Ribbons and Glue. Holly has been a recent Wednesday Winner for a couple of great Fall projects, including a really cute Halloween monster card and an adorable pumpkin patch scene with the cutest scarecrow.

Let's get to know Holly a bit better.

1. When did you start scrapbooking/paper crafting and why?
I started scrapbooking, mainly making 12x 12 layouts over seven years ago before my son was born.  I had a friend who was a Creative Memories Consultant and I became hooked on albums, stickers, tape, page protectors, die cuts etc....  I definitely was her best customer!
Two years ago, my sister-in-law introduced me to Cricut products.  I really didn't understand the whole concept and I couldn't believe the cost of cartridges, but listening to her talk about the Cricut cuts, I caved in.  I purchased a Cricut Personal Cutter for a holiday sale price but I paid full price for my first cartridge, Opposites Attract-Yikes!  Of course, it didn't take long for my love of the Cricut machine to flourish.  I've upgraded to an Expression since then, have added a Gypsy to the family and own over 40 cartridges.  I also learned quickly never to pay full price for a cartridge again! LOL....

2. What is your favorite type of project to make (i.e., cards, layouts, mini-albums, etc....)?
I absolutely LOVE to papercraft!   I've gotten so behind on my personal scrapbooking because I always seem to be working on a paper project for a friend, something to enter into a challenge or making home decor items.  I really enjoy making handmade, personal cards which always have to  include a matching envelope.
Lately though, my favorite kind of papercrafting has been 3D objects.  I'm a sucker for a good box, bag or 3D cut.  I love to take a regular cut and see if I can make it into 3D.  I designed a few projects for Halloween this year that were regular cuts and I turned them into 3D items.  So Fun!
3. What is your favorite product to use on your projects?
I seem to go through phases.  Everything used to have Stickles on it, then I turned to using my Xyron with glitter, played with some twine and I always love a good button. My most favorite product that most of my projects contain is, embossing.  I love adding texture embossing or use heat embossing powder. Simple embossing can really make a project pop.  I love the smell of my Big Bossy stamp pad too!
4. What is your favorite Cricut cartridge?
Hmmmmm....  I really love all my cartridges!  I'm constantly surprised when I do a search on my Gypsy of the amount of cuts I didn't even know I had.  If I had to pick one that I believe is a must for all Cricut fans would be Paper Doll Dress Up.  Never mind the dolls and clothes, the cartridge is so full of additional cuts that can be used for the holidays and borders.  My favorite font cartridge is actually the first one I ever bought, Opposites Attract.  Most of my font cuts are using the Upright function from Opposites Attract and I weld the letters together on my Gypsy.
5. What do you do in your spare time, when you are not paper crafting
I'm a Christan, wife of 12 years and a mother to two children.  I previously worked as a Registered Dietitian and have been lucky enough to be a stay at home mom since my daughter was born.  I'm active in my son's school, help out with the Cub Scouts and take my daughter to all her activities.   Exercise is also an important part of my life too, I love to run, lift weights, attend Pilate's or take a good spin class.

As a family, we love to travel. We have driven all over the country, thousands and thousand of miles!  You could call us "professional road trip travelers".  We've traveled to 48 states and 5 Canadian Provinces.  The only states we haven't visited is VT, AK and HI.   Traveling is such a great learning experience for the kids and for family bonding.  I also love to take pictures, I'm always snapping photos, I just need to work on putting them into albums..LOL.
Thanks for having me as you Spotlight Guest!

Thanks so much Holly, for playing with us at FCCB and for joining us today!

And now, let's take a peek at some projects from Holly's blog, Ribbons and Glue.

I just love this rosette Halloween wreath. The colors are so vibrant and are perfect for Halloween. Those little spiders are pretty cute too!

And here is a Fall one...more rich and vibrant colors.

Holly made this pear card for her Grandparents as they have a garden with a pear tree. I thought the shape was a great cut and the sentiment is perfect. How sweet that they have been married for 68 years, wow!!

OK, is this just not the cutest pair of boots you've seen?! I would soooooo wear those! And look at that perfectly matching envelope!

This is a name book Holly made for her sister who was having a baby boy. She used cereal boxes as a light weight chipboard. I love the colors and the animals Holly used. Here is a link to the post on her blog, as Holly made several projects for her sister for her baby shower:  Holly's baby projects.
Make sure to join us tomorrow for Challenge Me Monday where Holly will be our Guest Designer. And the FCCB Design Team will have some fantabulous projects to share with you!

Happy Crafting!
