Thursday Tutorial with FCCB......Misting Masks

Welcome to FCCB Thursday Tutorial.  Today I'm sharing a super clever idea from Sara at One Day at a Time  on making your own misting masks.

Do you notice the Hearts on Sara's Fantabulous layout?  Don't the hearts look like pattern paper or stamps?  Nope, they're all made from a template cut on her Cricut and then sprayed with colored mist!  What a Fantabulous idea!

Here's how Sara made it:

First I found the image I wanted to use. This layout I choose a cluster of hearts. Then put a piece of scrap paper on your Cricut mat - you will be getting this paper a messy and it will have no actual use on your layout.

Here is the paper with the heart shapes cut out of it and I have placed it on top of my back ground sheet for my layout. I gathered 3 different colored mists that work with my layout.

Before you start misting you must get other scrap paper to cover up the rest of your back ground paper. Mist has a tendency to spray all over so you will want to be sure cover up the rest of your paper so you do not get mist where you don't want it.

Then spray your masked area until you are happy with the saturation.

Once you are happy with the way it looks remove the mask and the other papers and your misted image will be revealed.

How clever is Sara's tutorial?   You can check out more details about her misting tutorial on her blog HERE.

I just had to give Sara's tutorial a try since I do own one bottle of Glimmer Mist in Peppermint Stick from Tattered Angels.  I think I've used it like once, now twice......

Since my mist was red and Sara already made hearts,  I decided to cut the word love from Opposites Attract a 2.74 inches.

Hint: If you choose to mist a word, you have to remember that you'll be misting the negative cut so you'll need to keep the inside pieces of your letters.

I love the look of Kraft paper, white and red so went that that look by adding Martha Stewart gingham paper tape, red twine and a heart banner.  Looks like I already have a card made for Valentine's next year.

Hope this FCCB tutorial is inspires you to find ways to use your glimmer mist.

Spotlight Sunday

Welcome to Spotlight Sunday! You're looking good, and we're glad to see ya ;0)

This week we're going to finish spotlighting the stellar editions to the FCCB DT.

Here is Tammy of Bowman Crafts

These are darling, I know. Let's get to know her a lil better.

When did you start scrapbooking/paper crafting and why?

About 6 years ago my paper crafting began strictly as a hobby, it was something to do with my girlfriends. Then my husband saw an ad on TV for the cricut. He convinced me to purchase it even though at first I didn't know if I would really use it. As I researched it online I started to see some possibilities. At the time I was undertaking a project at school, where I ran the elementary library. I was turning my library into an aquarium. My paper crafting then took off in many ways.

What do you do in your spare time, when you are not paper crafting?
In my spare time I line dance, workout and spend time with family and friends. Family is very important to me. I enjoy pouring myself into my job which is presently running our high school library. I have dabbled in other craft media over the years and I am incorporating them into my paper crafting. I also enjoy sharing my love for crafting with you tube videos and classes.

Here is Holly of Ribbons and Glue

I know...these are fabulous. Let's get to know Holly.

When did you start scrapbooking/paper crafting and why?

I've always loved crafting and started scrapbooking 8 years ago. A few years ago, I discovered the world of Cricut and have been hooked ever since! I absolutely love paper crafting! I'm sucker for anything 3D and love to give unique and personal cards and paper crafts to friends and family.

What do you do in your spare time, when you are not paper crafting?

I live in Las Vegas with my husband of 13 years along with my two kids who are 7 and 5. I'm active in my son,s school and his Cub Scout Den. In my spare time when I'm not crafting or thinking about crafting, I love to exercise and attend a women's Bible study group.

Here is Karen of Simply Frenzied

I know you love it all ;0) Let's get to know Karen.

When did you start scrapbooking/paper crafting and why?

I started scrapbooking when I was dating my husband, 30 years ago. Very basic pages of what we did, photos, memorabilia and journal. Scrapbooking was really in it's infancy, so there was not the abundance of product you now see on the market. I have some really old tricks and tools that I still use. Using Saran wrap to add texture to paper and a very old, interesting corner rounder that is 20 years old, just to name a few. When I was pregnant with my oldest son, who is now 26, I purchased a little 1" x 1" rubber stamp with a bear inside a baby buggy, which I used to make baby announcements. I had an opportunity to work with a direct sales company when my sons were 5 and 2. D.O.T.S. which later become Close to My Heart. As of last year, I decided to leave CTMH, however I continue to be hooked on rubberstamping, scrapbooking and papercrafts and all this crazy passion has to offer.

What do you do in your spare time, when you are not paper crafting?

I do work full time outside the home, as an elementary school Office Manager, which is my reality. In my spare time I create for FCCB and Colorful Creations, as well as blog. I also love to bake, go on dates with my hubby, tour some of the many wineries we have in Washington state.
One last thing to share, as I am very proud of this accomplishment... I participated and completed my first triathlon last August 14, 2011 in 02:38:02. Not bad for someone who is not a swimmer and over 50 years of age.

Here is Sheila of She Loves Shoes

Yep, She really does love shoes ;0) Don't we all...hee hee. Let's get to know Sheila.

When did you start scrapbooking/paper crafting and why?

I started paper crafting in the fall of 2007 when I saw a Stampin' Up! catalogue one of my friends had laying around her place. I took one look through the catalogue and was so excited because I knew I had found my favourite hobby at last! Making Cards...

What do you do in your spare time, when you are not paper crafting?

When I'm not paper crafting or shopping for paper crafting, I'm shoe shopping!

Thanks Ladies!! Be sure to hop around and check all of the great blogs. Join us tomorrow for another super fun Challenge Me Monday!!

Be blessed, Beckie
