Cricut Craft Room: Selecting & Moving an Image

Good morning everyone!

This is Missy here with another Cricut Craft Room tutorial.  Last week we talked about two different ways to get your images placed on your mat.  This week we're going to talk about how to move those images around once they're on there.

When you want to work with an image in Craft Room, you first have to select the image.  You can select it by clicking anywhere on the image.  Once it's selected, you'll see a box appear along with eight "action icons", like you see above.  (You won't see any numbers, I did this to make it easier to tell you which icons I'm working with!!!)

If you wish to move the image around the mat, from one place to another either up or down or side to side, you're going to want to click your mouse on the upper left hand corner icon, labeled number ONE in the above photo.  If you simply want to move your image up and down, but not side to side, you can do that by clicking on the up and down arrow, icon number TWO.

Icon number three in the upper right hand corner is the "slant" icon.  This allows you to slant your image if you need to.

Icon number four allows you to "stretch" your image horizontally.

Icon number five in the lower right hand corner is one of the icons I use the most.  If you're working on sizing your image, and want to keep it in proportion both vertically and horizontally, you can do that by clicking & dragging this button until your image becomes the size you're looking for.

Icon number six, the bottom in the middle, allows you to "stretch" your image vertically.

Icon number seven in the lower left hand corner allows you to rotate your image.  This comes in VERY handy when you're trying to squeeze as many images on to your mat to make maximum use of your paper.  Sometimes when you rotate images around yourself, you can fit more on to the mat than the program can by doing it automatically.

Finally, icon number eight, the one in the middle on the left hand size, allows you to move your image across your mat horizontally.

Now, what if you slant an image and you don't like the way it turns out??  Or you accidentally stretch your image horizontally, when you really were wanting to size it proportionally??  That's easy!!  See the "UNDO" button at the top of the tool bar??

That's what that button is for!!!  You can undo, undo, undo, undo until you get your image back to where you want it.

I hope this helps you become a little more comfortable with manipulating your image on your cutting mat.  You won't need all of the options all of the time, but they all come in very handy when making your designs your own!!!  Thanks so much for coming by today, I'll be back next week with more Cricut Craft Room tips!!!

Spotlight Sunday!

Happy Sunday All!

It is Arin again and do we have a fun treat for you all today! We are going to start to introduce our new design team members!  Susie, from Susie Craft Happy, Administrative Assistant extraordinaire by day and cleverly talented crafty lady by night, is the first of those that will be in the Fantabulous Design Team spotlight!

Susie's projects are filled with adorable cuts that are sassy, fun and full of whimsy  Three years ago she never  knew crafting blogs existed and when she decided to join the creative blogging party, she has been going gang busters in being a fun inspiration to the creative paper crafting online community.  She has had the privileged to be on various popular design teams and recently landing a spot with Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog adding a fun and exciting creative element to the team.

She has some great creative concepts and ideas, one being these adorable baby onsie tutorial using the Cricut cartridges Wrap it Up and Paisley (click HERE to view).

While spending time scoping out her blog, I came to find that she has a true favorite Cricut cartridge.  Here are a few projects from the Paisley cartridge. To see her full collection of Paisley projects, click HERE.

Now let's see what makes this fantastic designer creatively tick!

1. When did you start scrapbooking/paper crafting and why?  I started paper crafting in March of 2010.  It all began with a beautiful centerpiece one of my co-workers created for her son's football team banquet.  She created cheerleaders using Cricut's Twinkle Toes and one of the Everyday Paperdolls cartridges

2. What is your favorite type of project to make (i.e., cards, layouts, mini-albums, etc....)?
My favorite project to make is cards.  I don't have any family in the state that I live, so I'm always sending cards to friends and family back home.

3. What is your favorite product to use on your projects?
My favorite product to use on my projects right now are Action Wobbles!  I love how they make an image come to life with movement.

4. What is your favorite Cricut cartridge?  My favorite is Paisley.  The images on this cart are perfect for friends of all ages.

5. What do you do in your spare time, when you are not paper crafting? I work full time outside of the home so spare time is precious to me and when I have it I like to spend time with my friends and family, go for a run and read fiction.

It has been a great joy and honor to spotlight such a wonderful new member to the team and keep your eyes peeled on what projects she has coming up this holiday season.  We will leave you with two of her favorite projects to enjoy!

Until Next Week,
Arin
