Hi Friends,
DIANA L. here from DL.ART with another Scrappin' Saturday. About PAPER!!
Have you ever noticed that some cards look like they are a better quality than others? One of the reasons has to do with the paper and/ or card stock. You have heard of paper-holics haven't you?
The pursuit for the best paper or I never know if they will run out of this pattern, or I may need more of this, or it was on sale and I just could not pass it up and the excuses go on. After a while you learn which paper works best for your needs.
American Cardstock is 80# (or 80 lb) card stock. This is a great card stock to run through the cricut machine. It cuts beautifully and has the same color all the way through. The same with core'dinations and Bazzill. They may vary a little. When the paper is textured it gives it more body, but it doesn't weigh more.
Die cuts with a view has cardstock stacks and paper stacks. Their cardstock stack is about 80#, and their paper stack is approx 24#- 28#
Echo park, Graphics 45 and Carta Bella, just to name a few are 65#
A good base for your cards would be 80# or more. I personally like 110-120.
Although if you are going to be using a lot of layering and finish off the inside, you don't want it too heavy. If you do use a lighter card stock and put embellishments on it, remember, you will need to balance your design so it doesn't tip over when the recipient wants to display it, after all you do want your work on display right?
I hope this was helpful information for you. I just touched lightly on paper. Paper was part of my studies in college, so if you have any questions about paper, I would be happy to answer them and if I don't know the answer I will find it.
Thanks for stopping by Fantabulous Cricut Challenge blogs’ Scrappin’ Saturday. See you next week. Have a blessed Saturday and Happy Scrappin'
