Quick Tip Tuesday: Heat Embossing

Welcome to Quick Tip Tuesday!  I recently learned a great tip with regards to heat embossing and I'm passing it along to you:  Before inking your image the you wish to emboss, rub a dryer sheet over your paper.  This eliminates the static that causes some bits of embossing powder to stick in unwanted places.
After rubbing your paper with the dryer sheet, you may wish to give the paper a gentle blow to remove any lint that might have collected.  Then stamp the paper with your image or sentiment, quickly applying enough embossing powder to cover the entire image.  Turn your paper upside-down and give it a gentle tap to remove the extra embossing powder.  (I always use a sheet of paper underneath so I can form a funnel to return the extra to the container.)
The next step is to use your embossing tool to heat the image.  Move the tool an inch or so above the image until all areas appear shiny.  Be careful!  This step can get quite hot!  Once the image has cooled (which generally does not take long at all), you can use it on your project!
(I would like to mention that the dryer sheet tip does seem to work much better on stamping paper than it does on regular cardstock.)

Happy crafting!
