Spotlight Sunday

Oh my it is almost Christmas Eve!  It is Arin here, and I have one last Sunday Spotlight to share with you before I sign off for the Holiday week!  This talented crafter has been really making herself known in our challenges for the past few months. Shelly, from Shelly's Card Blog is one talented lady full of ideas and can be found on many amazing design teams.  She can really give you your fill of creative ideas as you spend time visiting her blog.  That amazing gift of creativity has earned her these Top 5 picks these past few months!

Now let's meet this one amazing creative lady!

1. When did you start scrapbooking/paper crafting and why? I started scrapbooking about 20 years ago when a friend invited me to a scrapbooking party. Tat was back in the day when there were only scissors, stickers and limited paper ;)  I started as just a way to get out of the house and hang out with just the girls. years later ( in 2006 i think) i discovered the cricut and the cricut message board and went into a card making frenzy:) I found it to be so relaxing and fun too and still do.

2. What is your favorite type of project to make (i.e., cards, layouts, mini-albums, etc....)? My favorite project to make is cards.I also love tags and bags which I pretty much decorate like I would a card.

3. What is your favorite product to use on your projects? My favorite product ( besides anything cricut) is colorbox fluid chalk ( my go to color is chestnut roan). I use it on every single project i make.

4. What is your favorite Cricut cartridge? This will surprise anyone who follows my work since vintage is my style. my favorite cartridge is create a critter. I love how user friendly it is and how dang cute the animals are.

5. What do you do in your spare time, when you are not paper crafting? In my spare time besides crafting i like to spend time with my daughter and friends, read, bike ride which I hadn't done in over 30 years until recently, exercise (Pilates, kettlebell and walking),and I've also discovered I love to bowl. I hadn't done that in 40 years. I stink at it but its fun :)c

Here are a couple of her personal favorite projects.

This tag is just adorable and really makes one feel the magic of the Christmas season!
This card is full of such amazing detail and so cleverly designed!

It was a blast getting to meet and know a faithful and loyal challenge participant that Shelly has been to the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog. Be sure to stop by Shelly's Card Blog and say "Hi" and be prepared to be very inspired.   I am going to leave you with one of my favorite projects I found while spending time on her blog.  It is not a Cricut project, but it is way too cool and cute not to share!

Happy Christmas!
Arin

Scrappin' Saturday - Shaped Cards

Hello Everyone!
Susie Craft Happy here with today's Scrappin' Saturday!  Our challenge this week seems to be getting everyone in shape!
Challenge #142 - Make A Shaped Card - Since we're scrappin' this Saturday just look at what Michele Kovack over at Thoughts of a Cardmaking Scrapbooker created as a shaped wall hanging!  It's a layout as a wall hanging!  Just in time for the holidays.  I love it!  Michele is an amazing crafter and I love what she did with these photos.
More beautiful holiday layouts out there this week, check out this one from Scrappy Vee!  Isn't it great what she did with Santa, the reindeer and the sleigh!  This layout is fabulous and ready for her Christmas photos!
Heather over at Crafts and Scraps is getting us in the mood for winter and created this amazing winter scene layout.  Isn't it the cutest?!  Heather has some fabulous layouts on her blog and this one is perfect now that Winter is here.
Well, that's going to do it for this week's Scrappin' Saturday!  I'd like to wish you all Happy Holidays and Warm Winter Wishes!!!
We want to see your
challenge layouts and projects where you have used a cut from a Cricut Cartridge....please leave a comment and link to your blog so we can stop by to see them! Hope you're able to find some time to do some Scrappin’ this Saturday.
Thanks for stopping by!

Cricut Craft Room: Coloring Images

Good morning everyone!  This is Missy here again with another Cricut Craft Room tutorial.  This week we're going to talk about coloring in our images on our mat as we're working with them.  I think there are probably  many reasons why this would come in handy, but the thing I use it the most for is mass producing images.  This feature helps me keep myself straight as far as which color of paper to use on my  mat.

Let's say I was going to cu several of these houses from the Jolly Holidays cartridge.  I know I want the base layer of my house to be brown, so I'll want to use brown paper.  On my mat, I can color that image in brown, to help myself remember.  Here I have several of my houses that I colored brown laid out on my mat.

The next layer of my house I want to be red.  Here's a bunch of them on my  mat that I colored in red.

Here's how I did that.  If you look on the tab for the layer you're working with, you will see a little down arrow button on the right hand side of the tab.  Click on that, and you see this drop down menu.

Click on the word "Color".  After you do that, you will see some color options and the color wheel.  It looks like this.

Select the color you want by either clicking on the little circles on the left, or you can customize your color by using the color wheel.  After you choose the color you want for that layer, click "Apply" at the bottom.

And there you have it, you've colored the images on that layer!!  Each layer can be customized, which is really nice.  A little reminder from last week...remember, you can only see the layer you're working with when the green eyeball is showing.  If you want to either see a layer, or hide it, click that little eye ball on and off and you'll get what you want.

Thanks so much for stopping by today...I'll see you back here in 2 weeks with some more fun with Cricut Craft Room!!!
