Quick Tip Tuesday: ribbon storage

Wow! It's Quick Tip Tuesday already.
Have I ever told you how much I LOVE ribbon? Well, I do. Every time I go to the store I seem to come home with spools of ribbon. I just can't resist. Because I have so much, I store my spools by color family in rows in a large flat box (case of water-sized). Then the smaller spools and cards are in my JoAnn's ribbon storage boxes. But what about those loose lengths? I love the idea of those cute zippered storage bags with the holes all around to thread the ribbon lengths through, but they are so expensive.
Well, here's my solution and believe it or not, it works!

This is a basket from the Dollar Store. I just threaded the ends through to the outside. It looks a mess inside, but the ribbons pull right out without tangling. I just keep it on one of my craft closet shelves, take it out, look for the ribbon color (I tried to keep them somewhat together) and pull out what I need. It's a lot easier to find the ribbon than when I had it stuffed inside a box. I'd much rather spend my money on the actual ribbon that something fancy to store it in.

Spotlight Sunday

Welcome to Spotlight Sunday! I hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday so far!

Today we are featuring this week's winner for the Let's Get Buggy challenge,

and one very talented lady! Here is Jenny, from Jenny's Scrapbooking Haven.

You may recognize Jenny's adorable sweet pea card that she entered into the challenge.

Jenny used her Lacey Labels and New Arrivals Cricut Cartridges. Isn't it just so stinkin' cute?!

Now let's get to know Jenny a little better!

1. When did you start scrapbooking/paper crafting? Why?
I started to scrapbook around nine years ago. My hubby worked out of town in Fort McMurray and I was very lonely and bored when I saw a add for a beginners scrapbook class at a local scrap booking store so I called my daughter and asked if she was interested and we decided to sign up for it and we have both been hooked ever since!
2. What is your favorite type of project to make (i.e. cards, LO, mini-albums, etc.)?I enjoy making all paper projects but my favorite by far is a good two page layout. I love to be able to put my memories down on paper. It is wonderful to be able to look back and remember those wonderful special times and have it down on paper and not have to rely on my memory.
3. What is your favorite product to use on your projects?I love to use bling on all my girly pages and my gel pen and chalk around the edges of my pages.
4. What is your favorite Cricut cartridge?Last time I counted I had 105 Cricut cartridges and if I had to pick my favorite I would say it would have to be Storybook. It is used in just about every layout.
5. What do you do in your spare time, when you are not paper crafting?When I am not scrapbooking I am playing Bingo or planning a vacation! We love to travel. We just booked a trip to Hawaii a couple of days ago so I will be spending a lot of time on the Internet making plans for our upcoming trip.

Scrappin' Saturday- Piece of Cake!!

Welcome to another Scrappin' Saturday! I LOVE cake! It is my favourite treat! I have really enjoyed looking at some great scrapbook pages with a cake theme. I think there are some FAB cake cuts on different cartridges. I hope you like the pages I have found to share with you and they inspire you to scrap some of your cake or baking photos!!

Fantabulous Friday--A Piece of Cake!

Hi everyone!  Another Fantabulous Friday here.  I am so very glad it's Friday!!  I work at a University and classes started this week and it has been so busy at work.  Friday's are slower and just one day away from being off at least :)

Today I thought I would give you some ideas of where to find some cake/cupcake cuts so that you can enter our challenge this week.  You know, there is plenty of time to enter!

There are several cartridges just made for sweets.  Sweet Treats is one of them. 

Here's a simple cupcake card from this cart!

 

There's also the Sweet Shop Lite cartridge.  I just ordered this one from Cricut.com and can't wait to get it and play!

The new Sweet Tooth Boxes project cartridge makes some wonderful 3D items.

Here's an adorable cupcake box that Roberta at Tx Scrapper Mom made. Make sure to visit her blog--she does amazing work!!

So there are three cartridges made just for sweet projects! There are plenty of other carts that have some sweet treats too so explore your cartridges.  Make sure to enter your project by Sunday night and be sure to use a Cricut cut! I hope you have a great weekend and let's eat some cake :)
