Sunday Spotlight

Happy First Sunday of Spring!

It is Arin here and we are kicking off the sweet sounds of spring with meeting a very new blogger that has joined in on the FCCB fun from nearly day one of her blog's birth.  Tisha from Designs by Tisha is a SAHM of seven children ranging from the ages of 24-3 and she even has 3 grandchildren that keeps this North Carolina lady hoppin'.  When she is not being super mom and grandma she is crafting up a storm with her Cricut making layouts and some pretty impressive cards. One of those impressive cards landed her a spot on FCCB's Top 5 with this is adorable spring card!

Tisha may have just started her blog in February, but she sure is wasting no time showcasing some great inspirations for layouts!

Now let's meet Tisha!

1. When did you start scrap booking/paper crafting and why?
I bought a Cricut Personal in September with the intentions of giving it to my daughter for Christmas.  I decided to try it out. I got hooked which meant I had to go buy another one for her.  I took over my husbands pool table and made it a crafting table.  I have been making cards ever since.  And have just started making layouts.

2. What is your favorite type of project to make?
My favorite would be cards.  I come from a large family so they keep me busy.  I love to put ribbon and pearls on them.  And I usually try to pop something up on them.

3. What is your favorite product to use for your projects?
Favorite products would be paper, of course, ribbon and pearls.  I have lots of different paper to choose from and I’m always buying ribbon.  Let’s not forget buttons and flowers.

4. What is your favorite Cricut cartridge?
My favorite Cricut cartridge would be Nate’s ABCs.  It can be used for so many different things.  I am currently making a ABC book for my toddler.  I use George and the Basic shapes a lot too.

5. What do you do in your spare time, when you are not paper crafting?
Spare time….I spend as much time as I can with my husband and my kids.  With 7 kids and 3 grandkids, I stay pretty busy.  We love to play in the yard, go fishing, swimming in the pool and watching movies on Saturday night. I also enjoy knitting and sewing.

Check out Tisha's birthday card stash!  The variety in the styles and inspirations is a great go-to source to glean fresh ideas from!
For being a new blogger, Tisha is really bringing it home and a true talent to follow.  Be sure to head over to Designs by Tisha and give some blog love and be inspired! I have a feeling we will be seeing more of her around here!
Before signing off, head on over and check out this adorable bunny card, just in time for Easter!

Until Next Week!

Scrappin' on Saturday

HI everyone, it's Cindy with this week's Scrappin' on Saturday. This week it's all about spring. Even if you have snow on the ground, it's nice to think about sunny days and kites and balloons gently floating in the sunny sky.

Challenge #153 Spring is in the Air

This week, it's all about spring and using kites and balloons in our scrapping projects. This week, we had lots of fun spring projects.

DT member Angie from Angie's Paper Passion used the hot air balloon from Every Day Pop-Ups and the lettering is from CTMH Artiste. I loved the colors that she used, the balloon really looks like its floating up in the clouds.

Cricut Crazy Scrapper made this cute Piglet layout. It has a cute kite from Pooh and Friends Cricut Cartridge.

Cindy at Papers Pads and Pictures made this fun layout using the CTMH Artiste cartridge.
She put her picture inside the hot air balloon which was very clever.

Last, I have Evelyn from Bleary Eyed Crafts with this fun layout to commemorate a fun day!

I hope that you all are inspired to do some spring scrapbooking!

Thursday Tutorial - Shaped Card

Hi there! Rachel here from Cricut with Heart sharing my first Thursday Tutorial with you. This was something I discovered out of necessity a while back when I wanted to make a mitten shaped card but my Gypsy was broken and I couldn't get Cricut Craft Room to work with my laptop.

First locate the cut line on your cutting mat.  It will be easy to see the edge of where the blade will cut when you have a used mat like this one.

Once you have located the cut line on your mat, position a folded piece of cardstock on the mat, with the folded edge just below the cut line.

I cut the mitten shape from page 79, Accent 2, at 5 1/4".  You'll need to use the Multi Cut feature since you're cutting through 2 sheets of paper.

Once it's cut, you'll have a section at the top that still has the fold in it since it was below the cut line.  So now you have a shaped card!  Easy, huh?

Next, all you have to do is decorate it and you're done!  Here is how my mitten card turned out after I added some layers and trimmings.

I hope you'll try this fun and easy way to make a shaped card out of almost any Cricut cut.  You could try this with a kite or balloon Cricut cut and enter it in our Spring is in the Air challenge this week!

Happy Crafting!
