Spotlight Sunday

Hello FCCB Friends and Happy Sunday!

Today we are spotlighting one of our recent Wednesday Winners, Kimberli, from Kimberli's Creations!

I just love getting to know other crafty friends better, so let's hear a bit about Kimberli.

1. When did you start scrapbooking/paper crafting and why?
I started scrapbooking almost 8 yrs ago now, my best friend Diane introduced me to it me one girls' weekend that we had and I fell in love! Its even more special now that I have a family to scrapbook! I enjoy making my favorite pictures of our boys into scrapbook pages for their books, its so fun reliving those milestones as I make the pages! I just started making cards a year ago and have fallen in love with that as well! One of my goals this year was to make every card we sent out this year and so far, I've done it!!

2. What is your favorite type of project to make (i.e., cards, layouts, mini-albums, etc....)?
I do love making cards but scrapbooking is my passion! Though lately it seems I spend a lot more time making cards then scrapbooking but one of these days, I hope to be able to find more time to stay caught up on cards so I can concentrate more on scrapbooking - I'm only about 3 yrs behind now!

3. What is your favorite product to use on your projects?
I love my cricut and gypsy, I rarely make any project without them, there are just so many possibilities with that fun machine and I seem to discover something new each time I use them! I'm also fairly new to rubber stamps (started using them about the same time I started making cards) and those have quickly become a must have in my projects!

4. What is your favorite Cricut cartridge?
Right now my favorite cart is Pop-Up Neighborhood - I'm using it to make my son's 1st birthday invitations and I love it! But my favorite cart seems to change almost weekly, which is great since I have gotten quite a collection built up, so I love to use them all as much as I can!

5. What do you do in your spare time, when you are not paper crafting?
I spend all my days with our two boys - being almost 1 and 3, they keep me busy! My 3 yr old will be starting preschool next week and I'm excited to be a room mom for his class and help out as much as I can with the preschool! My almost 1 yr old is crawling all over and into everything, so there's never a dull moment in my house with these two! I'm also a Neonatal Intensive Care unit nurse, 2 nights a week - I love my nursing career and couldn't imagine doing anything else! Between the boys and my career, I need another 4 hrs in each day, to spend crafting! I have a very supportive hubby and we're lucky to usually have two days off together, though I'm usually sleeping part of it after working, but its nice to have those family days together!

Any other information you would like us to know about you?
My husband became very ill a couple of months before we were to get married and ended up on dialysis for kidney failure about 2 weeks before our wedding. The summer after we got married, we found out we were a perfect match, in more ways then one! I was a kidney match and able to donate one of mine to him when we had been married just 7 months - it was amazing to be able to do that for him and *knock on wood* - he is now as healthy as can be! He likes to give me a hard time because I asked my surgeon to take a picture of "our" kidney after it was out of me but before it went into my husband - and she did!! I had to make a section in our scrapbook about such an important time in our lives and I wanted to document a major connection we had - that kidney!! Everyone thought I was crazy, but I got my picture and its tucked safely in our scrapbook on its own page! :)

I'm very honored to be picked for the Spotlight Sunday - I love doing challenges and Fantabulous Cricut is one of my favorite challenge blogs - its amazing how challenges can really get the creative juices flowing! I started my blog at the beginning of this year to keep track of my cards for my own sake and I never imagined that I would meet so many neat women who share the same passion as me! Thank you!!

Kimberli's blog is filled with so much wonderful inspiration. This is the card she entered at FCCB that won on Wednesday Winners. Isn't it gorgeous?!

Here is an adorable pillow box made from the new Close to My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge.
I just love the projects I am seeing with that cartridge! The papers Kimberli used are so pretty!

Here is an adorable baby card. I love the embossing on the clouds and the stitching.

And, in the spirit of Christmas in July, Kimberli made this sweet snowman card. The pink, although not a real traditional winter color, works so well with the blues on the card!

Thank you Kimberli for sharing your talent with us and for playing at FCCB!

Make sure to stop by Kimberli's Creations to see these and other fantabulous projects!

Thank you so much for stopping by today for Spotlight Sunday.
Make sure to hop on back tomorrow for our next Challenge Me Monday.

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend. Happy Labor Day and Happy Crafting!

  1. I like Kimberli's creations & the story about her donating one of her kidneys to her husband. I would like to know how she weaved the ribbon on the snowman card so I'm going to ck out her site.

  3. Thank you Sabrina, for all your kind words - you're so sweet!!

Melissa - I didn't have very much luck with my ribbon staying and in the comments on that thread, they said to try terrifically tacky tape on the back and it works better - so I will be trying that on another card in the near future!

  7. Kimberli's projects are definitely adorable! And the story about the kidney is really heart warming and kinda funny at the end. You never would not want to let the moment slip of capturing the moment in pictures and preserving it in scrapbooks! And like you, I love paper crafting but amongst all of them scrapbooking is the best. =)
