Scrappin' Saturday #2: Custom Die Cut Background Paper

Happy Saturday everyone!  Today's Scrappin' Saturday topic is Custom Die Cut Backgrounds!  You know those gorgeous die-cut papers with the decorative edges?  The ones that cost a FORTUNE???  Why not make them yourself? (With a little help from that fabulous machine known as the Cricut!)
For this layout, I used some regular patterned paper and cardstock, as well as the Storybook cartridge.  I used the shadow feature to cut the turquoise layer and then just used the standard mode to cut the black and white patterned paper.  When layered, it gives the allusion of a bordered die-cut paper.

You can get super-fancy with this technique, or keep it somewhat simple, like a scalloped circle or square.  Either way, you'll have beautiful, custom pages that didn't break the bank!!!  :)

Let us know if you try this technique and link your projects in the comments section below...
Happy Scrappin!

  3. I did the same thing with a page I made to mimic my Christmas card. I loved that I could control what my paper looked like. Thanks for looking!
