Create a patriotic project

In my blog wanderings, I found some lovely patriotic inspired projects. The first is a fun layout by Karen from Crafted with Love. She used A Child's Year.

Liz from Tryin 2 Craft made dog tags that look very close to the real thing!

Shana from Shana's Sweets made this amazing wall hanging using the Stand and Salute cartridge.

Thanks for visiting today! I hope that you all have some time to scrap.

Fantabulous Friday 162 - Memorial Day

Hello!  It's Heather here with another Fantabulous Friday post for you!!  Did you enjoy your holiday weekend last weekend?  I hope you were able to celebrate the day and remember those who have lost their lives serving our country.  That's what this week's challenge is all about!  We want to see the projects you create celebrating Memorial Day.  Those of you who do not live in the US, you are still able to participate!  Just create a project honoring a loved one instead!!

I found some fabulous cards I wanted to share with you.  First is Maria who made this simple yet fantastic card using the Going Places cartridge.  I love the pop of red from the bow!

Next up is Judy, who used Stand and Salute to create this very patriotic card.

Finally, I found this card that Jen made using Paper Doll Dress Up, Everyday Paper Doll, Cindy Loo and Cupcake Wrappers.  How cute is that sailor and puppy?

There are lots of Cricut images for you to choose from for this challenge!  I found three cartridges that are filled with images that could be used for your Memorial Day cartridges.

Independence Day - Celebrate CCR Exclusive

Stand and Salute

Summer Celebrations

I hope this has given you some ideas to help you create some fantastic Memorial Day projects!  Be sure to link up by this Sunday evening and don't forget to tell us which Cricut cartridges you use!!

And don't forget to come back tomorrow for Scrappin' Saturday!!

Thursday Tutorial - Tea Light Birthday Cake!

Hello! Rachel here from Cricut with Heart and today I'm sharing how I made a Tea Light Birthday Cake for a family friend who turned 90 years old.

This project was inspired by Bren Yule, a fellow CTMH consultant who gave one of these cute little cakes to my friend Mary. When I saw it, I couldn't wait to try this out for myself! I "googled" it to find directions, and there are all kinds of tutorials out there on the web. I picked different elements from several of them, so here is how I ended up making mine.

From page 41 of Cricut Art Philosophy, I cut 2 of the Circle3 scallop circles at 2" for the base of the cake.

I used the CTMH 1 1/4 circle punch to cut out a hole to access the light switch and battery compartment under the light. I hand cut the same size hole from the chipboard scallop circle shape from Dimensional Elements Mixed Shapes sheet.

I cut another 2" scallop circle (circle3) for the top of the cake. To make a hole for the flame, I folded it in half and then in half again, and then cut off the tip of the triangle shape that was made. I also cut small slits at each scallop to make it easier for the edges to fold over the sides of the top.

I inked the edges of all the pieces, then used Liquid Glass to glue the 2 circles to the chipboard piece on top and bottom, and then glued it to the bottom of the tea light. I glued a piece to fit around the edge of the light, and then glued the top piece on it.

Then I cut 3 flowers from Page 68 (font, base) at 1 3/4". I inked the edges, and folded over the petals before rolling them up with the Quilling Tool.

I glued these flowers to the top of the cake, around the flame. I added Bitty Pearls to the center of each flower, and around the top on each scallop. For a final touch, I cut out "90" at 3/4" and covered it with Green Glitz Glitter Gel, then glued it to the front.
I hope you'll give these fun little cakes a try. They are fun and easy! I even made a little cake box to put it in. This box is from the Cricut Artiste cartridge.

Happy Crafting!

Quick Tip Tuesday

It's Angie here from Angie's Paper Passion. I'm so sorry that I am posting so late everyone! After the long Memorial Day weekend I really had my days mixed up! It's so hard to start up the week again after a long, wonderful holiday weekend!

Do you struggle with packing for a crop? I do! I always feel that if I leave something at home then THAT item will be the one that I will REALLY need to be able to finish ANY of my projects although I have 100 other items that I brought with me but, I will admit, I won't even touch them while I'm at the crop! Sound familiar? Well. I have a quick tip that may help you prepare for your crops or even when you're just at home.

Now, before I pack for a crop, I first determine what I want (or need) to work on - layouts, cards, or any particular project. Believe me, when this step has been done, you have won half the battle already!

Now, decide what other items you may need to complete each project. For example: cardstock, paper, ribbon, buttons, die cuts, flowers, bling, etc.

If you are adding Cricut die cuts to one or more of your projects, you can make this easy in one of two ways. First, die cut all of your images from your Cricut ahead of time or, if you are planning to take your Cricut with you anyway, save time by using Cricut Craft Room to plan out what images that you plan to cut and when you get to your destination and start cropping, just open up CCR, put your paper in the machine and cut! Very Simple!

Now that you have everything together for each project, all you need to do is pack each project separately. I found these bags made by Hefty at my local Walmart and they are very inexpensive especially since you can recycle them and use them over and over again!

These are wonderful for packing for a crop! Make sure that you purchase the JUMBO size which contain 12 zip-lock bags. Since they are 14 3/8"x 16" they are large enough for your 12x12 papers and most everything else you'll need to put in there.

Now you have different "Kits" that you can go to and find everything that you need in one place!
I don't put everything that I need for a particular project in my Kit like ink pads, adhesive, etc. Those will still stay in my tool bag. You can also take a few extra pieces for each Kit just in case something goes wrong and you need an extra button or another sheet or two of paper but having just what you need keeps the creating process pretty simple instead of overwhelming with too many items to choose from! Plus it makes it much easier to carry your crop bags & totes when you haven't packed up EVERYTHING plus the kitchen sink!
You can also use this tip at home. Place the items for different projects in separate bags then when you have just a little time to crop just grab one of your kits and start! You can get creative sooner without having to go around your crafting area looking for everything that you need!
I hope this quick tip helps you to get ready for all of those fun and creative crops that are in your future!

Don't forget to check back tomorrow for Wednesday's Winners!
Thanks for visiting today!

Challenge #162 Memorial Day

Hello everyone welcome to another challenge at Fantabulous Cricut!  Where we love creating using our Cricut Machines and know you do too!
This weeks challenge theme is Memorial Day...

What is Memorial Day and how do we celebrate it?
(Information taken from Wikipedia.org -HERE.)

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday which occurs every year on the final Monday of May.
Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.   Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War.
By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service.   It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season.
Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries.

Create a card or project celebrating Memorial Day
