Thursday Tutorial Cricut Cutting Tip

Hello & happy Thursday to you all!
This is Cicily & today is going to be more of a quick tip then a tutorial. I'm actually heading out the door today to travel to a friend's wedding!
I've spent the last few nights putting finishing touches on some of the decor & wanted to share with you one of my Cricut cutting tips.
I was cutting out the date from the Sophisticated cartridge. Using the CCR I had placed the date sideways to save paper.

I quickly realized that the pretty swirls were tearing!

Without unloading my mat, I finished cutting & went back to the mat on the CCR. I copied & pasted the date to a new mat layer & repositioned it to a new area & turned it 90 degrees.

No more tearing!

The tip is if you are having issues with a cut, try repositioning it! Sometimes though, it's the paper more than the cutting blade. If I think it's the paper I will flip my image & then turn the paper over & try the other side, cutting it out on the back of the paper.

Sorry this was short & sweet, but I'm off to a wedding!

  1. Cicily, thank you! i DO have those issues - tearing paper etc and have to admit I do not use a sweet voice when talking to my Cricut when that happens! I'm glad to know that sometimes it's the paper and that sometimes repositioning helps! have a fun weekend!!

  2. Thanks for the tip. That may explain a lot.
May I ask where you got the font you used in the project? It is beautiful!

  3. I replaced my blade and sometimes it tears and sometimes it doesn't, but I never had any trouble with tears before I put the new blade in. I even put the old blade back for a few tries to see if that would help. I don't remember now if I had been using a particular kind of paper when it was tearing. Are there particular brands or types that you find work better? I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
