Thursday Tutorial - Story Vids with Cricut

Hello everyone, JoNeita from Create with JoNeita, with this weeks Thursday Tutorial.  I found this wonderful story vid, about three girls on a camping trip.  It uses the Paper Dolls Teen Scene and the Campin' Critters Cricut Cartridges. 

I'm sure you are saying, what in the world is a story vid and what can I do with one.  A story vid is a short video made with a series of still images.  Some have sound as well, though this one does not, it only has subtitles.
So what can you do with a story vid?  I instantly thought, what a great project to do with my 5 year old once he begins to learn to read.  We could create a story, cut all the scenes and characters, put them together in a mini album, then finish it up by recording us reading it together and putting everything in Windows Movie Maker.  Then we would have a book to read and a story vid to share with all our friends. 

I can also see how this could be a fun project to send to someone who lives far away.  You could make a story vid to say happy birthday, miss you, thank you, or just because.  From a former history teacher, this would be a great method to use for a class project.  I would have been super impressed if one of my students presented their information in this format.

There are so many ways that would make this a great tool.  I will also say, if you have never used Movie Maker, it's pretty easy and you can find you tube tutorials that will walk you through the process.  If you don't like Movie Maker you could use Roxio, IMovie, or any other video editing program.

Quick Tip Tuesday

Hello to all of you Crafty Cricuteers! It's Angie from Angie's Paper Passion with a quick tip about Cricut handbooks. Personally I love looking at my handbooks while I am crafting with my Cricut but I don't like hauling them all out every time. So I have found that this tip works for me. Since I have my laptop out when I craft I can always go to the Cricut.com Image Library, find a cart, click on Details, and then on Digital Handbook.

But I have found a blog that has done all the work for me! Paulette from Around The Block with Scrapalette has created a page on her blog that has a complete list of every cart and all you need to do is click on the one you want to see the entire handbook. You can see her Cricut Cart Library here! I even put the link on my phone's home screen ~ now I can get to any handbook quickly, 

even if I'm out!

I have also downloaded an app to my phone called iBooks that I'm using just for my Cricut carts that I don't have the handbooks for ~ like the digital carts and files that I've purchased. It's easy to add the handbooks, too, just by opening a handbook in your phones web browser and then save it to your iBooks

Now it's very easy to see the Cricut handbooks that I want to look at.

Hello fellow crafters!! I hope you all have had a fantastic week and are now enjoying your weekend!!

First, there is still time to enter into our "Cool Treats" challenge for this week!! It's a great one with an amazing  sponsor!! Check it out!!!

So in honor of our challenge this week I came across a card (well several in fact) that where shaped like Popsicles!! How fun right!! So I thought it would be fun to show you how easy it is to create!! 

So go grab your supplies!! You will need:

* trimmer

* score board

* adhesive

* cardstock

* stamps and ink

* corner rounder

* Popsicle stick

* and your Cricut of course!! ;)

First you want to cut your base at 6" x 5"

On the 6" side score in half at 3" (excuse my messy score board...it is bet loved)

Next, cut 2 pieces of coordinating cardstock for your insides at 2.75" x 4.75" . I also rounded the corner of these pieces along with the base.

Stamp your sentiment

Adhere the Popsicle stick to the middle of the base. Allow it to hang out the bottom a couple inches, the attach your sentiment over the top.

Then to decorate the front, I got out my Cricut and cut a decorative oval border using the Forever Young cartridge. I attached it to the front using foam tape that way it had some dimension to it. And to finish it all off I took my scalloped circle punch and punched a "bite" out of the top corner!!

Easy peasy, right!! I hope you give it a try!!

FCCB #173 Cool Treats

Hey everyone!

We hope you're enjoying a fun week of "cool treat" projects!!  I've got a couple more ideas I found out there to share with you to help with some inspiration!

First up look at this super cute ice cream cone card I found over on My Sister Scrapper.  This image came from the Once Upon a Princess cartridge.  I love the embossing!

Next up we've got another sweet cone card made by Arin of A Piece of Life's Pie.  I think the ribbon, twine and button she used along with her pattern papers are just darling!

Finally we have these bright and fun popsicle cards that Ally from Rock, Paper Cricut made.  I love the bright, fun papers she used!

There are so many cartridges you can turn to when looking for images of "cool treats".  Here's just a couple to get you started!
