Scrappin' Saturday - Boo Spectacular

Happy Scrappin’ Saturday!! I can not believe that this is the last Saturday of the month & we only a couple more days to get any last minute things for  Halloween....finishing up on any unfinished details for your costumes along with refilling the candy bowl...if you have 'misplaced' the candy that once filled it.... :)

I wanted to share a couple projects that have been submtted for this week's challenge!!    Annette over at My Mind's Dust Bunnies made this amazing layout!  With all the details that she put into this layout, between the haunted house, the grave yard & the twine around the photo just to name a few...once I saw this, I knew I had to share!! :)      Saundra over at Luv Scrapping Together made this cute scary candy box!  With all these details, I would never want to even open it....it is just too cute!! :)

Thursday Tutorial Cricut Cutting Tip

Hello & happy Thursday to you all!

This is Cicily & today is going to be more of a quick tip then a tutorial. I'm actually heading out the door today to travel to a friend's wedding!

I've spent the last few nights putting finishing touches on some of the decor & wanted to share with you one of my Cricut cutting tips.

I was cutting out the date from the Sophisticated cartridge. Using the CCR I had placed the date sideways to save paper. 

I quickly realized that the pretty swirls were tearing!

Without unloading my mat, I finished cutting & went back to the mat on the CCR. I copied & pasted the date to a new mat layer & repositioned it to a new area & turned it 90 degrees.

No more tearing!

The tip is if you are having issues with a cut, try repositioning it! Sometimes though, it's the paper more than the cutting blade. If I think it's the paper I will flip my image & then turn the paper over & try the other side, cutting it out on the back of the paper.

Sorry this was short & sweet, but I'm off to a wedding!

Ink Pads

Hello and welcome to another Quick Tip Tuesday!

Today I really do have a quick one. My best friend and I have been doing research on different types of ink pads and I came across this information. I found it really helpful and I hope you do too! 

Chalk Inks

Chalk inks are archival, acid-free, and fast-drying, and they give a soft look. You can use them on wood, leather, paper, and more! You can heat-set chalk inks to enhance the permanence. These are great for distressing your papers and using background stamps along with regular stamping. The inking surface is usually a sponge. Brands include:

Colorbox Fluid Chalk

VersaMagic Chalk Ink

Dye Inks

Dye inks are water-based and are permanent once they are stamped on papers. This is a great general-purpose ink that can be used on all types of papers and is great for everyday stamping and scrapbooking. Dye-base inks will fade over time. These are harder to use for embossing because they dry quite fast; however, Ranger Distress Inks and Nick Bantock inks tend to dry a bit slower so they may be used for embossing. These are great for distressing your papers, and I love to use them when I color with my Copic markers or Prismacolor pencils. The inking surface is usually raised felt. Brands include:

Pigment Inks

Pigment inks are wonderful to use on clay, mica, wood, paper, shrink plastic, and more. Pigment inks are thick and fade-resistant. The inking surface is usually a sponge because it is thicker and distributed better over a sponge. They are also archival and acid-free, and are perfect for embossing! Pigment ink will not dry on coated papers unless you emboss the image. Brands include:

Tsukineko Brilliance Pigment Ink

Adirondack Pigment Ink 

StazOn

StazOn inks are acid-free, archival, and dry within three to five minutes. StazOn is perfect for surfaces such as transparencies, vellum, glass, tile, metal, plastic, and more! StazOn will stain your stamps so you will need to get a StazOn specific cleaner.

VersaMark

VersaMark is a clear pigment ink, and is great for watermarking or embossing. I also love to use it with my dye inks. I ink up my stamp with VersaMark first, and then I can use dye inks with it to emboss. This method works beautifully.
