Good Morning and welcome to Fantabulous Friday! My name is Tanya and I am so happy to tell you that I will be your new Fantabulous Friday Gal. When Robin posted the news that she was looking to fill a few positions on FCCB, I jumped at the chance. I look forward to the challenge of taking a closer look at the Cricut cartridges we all hold near and dear to our hearts. I'm anxious to share with you some of the goodies I have found on the cartridge I chose for this week...soooooo.....let's get started...........
This week's challenge on the FCCB is a sweet one:
Challenge #43 Sweet Shop
Incorporate something sweet on your project (i.e. ice cream, candy, cake etc.)
With this challenge in mind the obvious cartridge to explore this week seemed to be...........................drum roll please................

SWEET TREATS
This is really a fun cartridge, although I have to admit, I haven't used it in quite awhile. It also has some nice features on it that (before this posting) I had never tried. The first project I worked on turned out to be very simple to put together, but I think it turned out pretty nice.....
Doesn't that look good enough to eat? The great thing about this card is that I let the background paper do alot of the work! The border at the bottom of the card is actually printed on the cardstock...how cool is that? One great feature on this cartridge (that I had completely forgotten about) is an abundance of tags. After making the yummy looking cake for the card, I thought a matching gift tag would be nice. Now I just need a gift to go with this cute little set!
After working on this set, I had cake on my mind (ok, ok, I always have cake on my mind). Birthdays and celebrations are aways a big deal around my house and I'm sure they are at your home also. And, of course, with any celebration....you need cake....right? So,why not a special plate for the person of honor.....
While this cartridge may not have a font, it has some really great phrases like the one above. These phrases are really cute and have several layers so that you can make them bright and cheerful. I knew that I wanted to add some confetti to my plate, but DID NOT want to cut all those itty-bitty pieces by hand. So....I found another great feature on this cartridge...the "Party Favors" feature. I used the wavy line on page 53 and snipped it into confetti size pieces....worked like a charm! By the way, the vinyl on this plate is really on there! I tried to remove a piece that I misplaced and it was really tough to get off, so the plate should hold up pretty well when hand washed.
Another option you may want to explore on the Sweet Treats cartridge is the cards feature. While the cartridge offers many basic cards like squares and rectangles, it also has some really great shaped cards to play around with. This card (handbook page 35) fit right in with our sweet theme:
Now, how cute is that? This card did not have the cherry on top (and we must have a cherry on top), so I added the cherry from the cupcake on page 27 in the handbook.
Ok...had enough chocolate, ice cream and cake for one morning? How about a sweet that will not effect your waistline? Let's go with something that SMELLS sweet....did you know that his cartridge has some darling flowers to offer? Something else I had forgotten about this cartridge............
This cute little box was a dollar bin find. It's made accordion style to store photos. It was a cute little box already (especially for a buck)! However, this little box is going to be sitting in my craft room, holding photos that are next in line to be scrapped, so I thought it needed a little jazzing up! I used my gel pen to make stitching lines around the lid of the box. I used multiple layers for the flowers (from pages 49 and 50), inked them up and added a pearl to the center and....ta da...there you go!
Well, that's about all I have for today. I hope one of these projects will make you want to take a closer look at Sweet Treats. If you haven't already entered the challenge for this week...you still have time! Enjoy your weekend and I will see you again on the next Fantabulous Friday!
