FCCB #195: Mix & Match

Good morning everyone!

We hope you're enjoying out "Mix and Match" challenge this week!!  I thought this week, since our focus is on pattern paper, that I would highlight some Cricut Imagine projects this week, since we can use our Imagines to create some fabulous papers!

First up we've got this pretty card created by Carissa at Sprinkled with Glitter.  She used the Imagine cartridge Yummy to create the pretty papers and image on her card.

Next we've got this incredible layout created by the Bug Junkie.  She used the Imagine cartridge Kate's Kitchen to create the images and papers on her layout.

Finally, we've got this super cute chore chart created by Becka at Creations with Becka  She used the Imagine cartridge Best Friends as well as the Fabulous Finds cartridge to create this.

Now, even though the Imagine has been discontinued, you can still find cartridges out there if you look hard. As far as I know, Provo Craft still supports the Imagine as well, so mats, inks, and things like that can be purchased.  Here are a few more Imagine cartridges to inspire you to pull yours out if you've got one!

Enjoy the Seasons

Thursday Tutorial--Creating a Tri-fold Card With Your Cricut

Hi, everyone, Amy here with another Fantabulous Thursday Tutorial.  I bought my Expression in December 2009.  I loved it and I used it quite a bit.  But THEN I bought a Gypsy (it was on sale!).  Not quite sure what to do with it, I went on-line to look for some tutorials.  And that was when I discovered Sheila McShea at She's a Sassy Lady.  Well, that's when my Cricut use really took off.  It's so much easier to use my E when I can design anywhere and cut later.  PLUS I save paper and mats, and I can do so many more things than I could do with my E alone.

Sheila has kindly agreed to allow me to post one of her videos here today, but I strongly urge you to check them all out--it will really take your Cricut skills up a notch or two.  Keep in mind that Cricut Craft Room works in much the same way as a Gypsy, so you can adapt her techniques for CCR.

This video shows you how to make a tri-fold card using welding techniques.

In this video she refers to an earlier video about making a tri-fold template.  You can find it HERE.

Thanks, Sheila for sharing your talents with us today!

Quick Tip Tuesday

Hello! And Welcome to another Quick Tip Tuesday! This is Emily from Mollie's Motif and today I wanted to bring to you some Cricut Setting Cheat Sheets!  Ever have those days when it doesn't matter what you try, you are cutting/re-cutting/wasting/cursing/cutting and cutting some more just trying to figure out how to get that "perfect" cut? Well, I went to Pinterest and found a bunch of cheat sheets for the different settings you can use for different materials, that I thought I would just put here in one place for you.  Hopefully, one of these cheats will save you from a crafting day of frustration :)

Spotlight Sunday

Hello Crafters. Faith Wallace here with our Sunday Spotlight entry.

By the end of the weekend, we crafters may need a little more inspiration. That is why FCCB has the Sunday Spotlight column where we showcase work from Guest Designers. This week we are so thrilled to have TWO Guest Designer: Tina from Tina's Scrap Corner. And Georgiana from Carson's Creations. Let's start with Tina. Here are two samples from Tina's blog.

About Tina:

I started scrapbooking in 2007, through some co-workers. I was invited to a crop and the gal that invited me provided my album, protective sheets and rough idea of what I need to do. I fell in love with scrapping then and there. Now my love for cricut came a couple of years later, when I was checking out the local scrapbook store ad what she was doing with scrapbooks was so cool and a lot of the stuff came from the cricut machine so I started with the baby bug for Christmas one year, then a few years later the expression and I also have the imagine. Scrapbooking is my first love, but cardmaking is where I use my cricut the most.

Her favorite product to use: Oh I use stickles probably the most on cards and velum on scrapbook pages.

Her favorite Cricut Cartridge: Oh this is a tough one-it’s got to be a toss-up of Art Philosophy and Elegant Edges, they are both so versatile. But I’ve been using the Artiste quite a bit and for some quick layouts the Art Booking is a fun one too.

Don't miss Tina's project for tomorrow's challenge!

Let's give a big welcome to Georgiana, our second guest designer this week. Here are few samples of her work from her blog.

Hoot n Holler

Create a Critter

About Georgiana:

In March 2010, a fellow teacher and friend told me all about her new Cricut Expression and how wonderful it was. She would share websites and links to popular projects and tutorials. Within a month she persuaded me to get my own. In June 2010, I started my blog, Carson's Creations, to share. I have not been disappointed and enjoy each day I am able to craft.

My favorite type of project is card making, I like to make birthday and thank you cards while using a various sketches. Recently treat bags for my students have become a favorite too. I use different types of bags, a variety of candy, and different toppers depending on the occasion. My students look forward to the holidays and receiving some goodies.

There are so many different types of supplies, but my favorite types are ribbon, gems, buttons, and pearls.

I have no one particular favorite cartridge since I have almost 100 cartridges and I try to use a variety of cuts. I do like Plantin School for the font, Sweet Treats for the cupcakes, and Live Simply for the cute characters.

Don't miss Georgina's challenge post tomorrow.
