Jewels (Julia) from My Beautiful, Crazy...Scrappy Life
Before we take a peek at some of Jewels' creations, here is a little bit about her beautiful, crazy...scrappy life!
1. When did you start scrapbooking/paper crafting? Why?
I have been crafting since I was knee high, I have ALWAYS loved creating things. I made my first scrapbook when I was a senior in high school (c/o 94), it was an assignment for my English class, but it was the kind where you just threw some pics and memorabilia in it and cut out letters and sayings from magazines and such and was FULL of harmful acid...you know what kind I'm talking about. I didn't get "real" scrapbooking material until 1999 when my co-workers bought me a Creative Memories package so that I could start a scrapbook for my son...and then I was instantly hooked. My style and technique has changed drastically since then though and when I received my first Cricut in 2007...I was instantly in LOVE.
2. What is your favorite type of project to make (i.e. cards, LO, mini-albums, etc.)?
I love making anything pretty with paper =) But mostly do layouts, love making cards too and I am really getting into altering things.
3. What is your favorite product to use on your projects? My favorite thing to use...hmmmm besides paper, I guess it would have to be acrylic paint. Love how splattered paint looks on a layout or card, it gives it that little somethin' somethin'.
4. What is your favorite Cricut cartridge?
That is a hard one, because I love them all. But my go to cartridges are Birthday Bash, Create A Critter, Simply Charmed and Cake Basics.
5. What do you do in your spare time, when you are not paper crafting?
I am a SAHM of 2 beautiful kiddos, a boy (15) and girl (6) and stay pretty busy with them. During the school year I am a co-troop leader for my daughter's girl scout troop and taxi for my son and his friends. I love surfing the net for crafting inspiration, blogging, reading, spending time with family and friends (when time permits)....and I love me some reality TV. And I am a proud "Gleek"....LOVE LOVE Glee (TV Series).
Any other info you would like us to know about you:I am just a laid back, friendly, happy go lucky kinda gal. I wouldn't be able to enjoy the craft I love if it weren't for my very supporting husband, who spoils me with craft goodies and is the cause of my Cricut obsession. If it weren't for him I wouldn't have half of the stuff I have now...so "Thank You Honey". My daughter is also an up and coming scrapbooker, she mostly makes cards right now and has her very own Cricut. I am really trying to get my son into it because he is very artsy, but he thinks it is a little girly...so I am still working on it.
I would also like to thank Amy Jo & Robin for this AMAZING opportunity. I am so very excited to be on my very first Design Team with such amazingly talented crafter's. I look forward to getting to know each DT member a little better and hopefully inspiring all of you. Happy Craftin'!
