Spotlight Sunday

Hello FCCB Friends!

I hope you are having a great weekend!

Today we are spotlighting Abby at Midwest Memories who was one of our Wednesday Winners.
This was the cute little snail card that Abby entered at FCCB. Isn't it adorable?!

Let's get to know Abby better!

1. When did you start scrapbooking/paper crafting and why?
Since I was a little girl I've loved crafts, drawing and painting. I found the scrapbooking isle in Michael's back in '98 when I was pregnant with my only child. I normally have a horrible memory and knew this would be a good hobby to keep those precious memories of my pregnancy and his life alive forever. I fell in love with all the pretty papers and tools and filled my cart that same day. :)

2. What is your favorite type of project to make?
My first passion in scrapbooking is 12x12 layouts. About 2 years ago, some of my gal pals at scrappin-n-chattin introduced me to cardmaking and I was so happy to discover another avenue of paper crafts :) Now I make both pages and cards with an occasional side project like gift bags/boxes, mini-album etc.

3. What is your favorite product to use on your projects?
Dimension! Everything I make must include 3D embellies &/or popdots. Occasionally, I do create flat cards if I'm needing something more CAS. But dimension is a must have for most of my cards and all of my layouts. I also like to include doodling, sewing and pen-stitching :) Mostly all of the paper products I buy are brightly colored with fun whimsical patterns and designs, I like fun and cute projects :) But sometimes I do switch gears and create layouts/cards that are more classy and feminine.

4. What is your favorite Cricut cartridge?
Sadly, I haven't many cartridges compared to other Cricut lovers (a school substitute's salary doesn't do well for my Cricut supply wishlist lol).. I think I have just 7 carts total. Most of my carts are holiday and nature related. I'd have to say my favorite is a toss-up between Hoot-n-Holler and Live Simply. I love owls and little bugs and stuff :)

5. What do you do in your spare time, when you are not paper crafting?
Between being a single mom of an active 12 y/o son and working for our school district, I enjoy being with family and friends. I also co-own and operate The Paper Variety with my online bestie, Suzanne (who is also a Cricut lover!).. so that takes up alot of my free time. TPV is a paper crafting challenge blog and we happily just celebrated our one year anniversary! :)

Any other information you would like us to know about you?
I'm so very happy that my son has also become extremely artistic. When he was 3 y/o, he carried his Blue's Clues handy dandy notebook everywhere and drew in it constantly. From there, he developed his love of drawing and LEGO building and he's VERY good at both! He's very supportive of my scrapbooking and my biggest fan, as I am his. He and I are also big movie/TV fans. We often go to the cinema together and we're both die hard fans of Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel (Ooooo Spooky! lol). Myself, I never miss an episode of Parenthood, The Office or The Biggest Loser. :)
I'm quite honored and humbled to be asked to be your guest this week. Thank you so very much for having me. :)

Here is Abby with her sweet family!

Here are some of the wonderful projects you will see on Abby's blog.

I love this card with its hot air balloons and clouds. The dominant blue and white colors look great in conjunction with the purple, yellow, and orange of the hot air balloons. I love hot air balloons, so this card really jumped out at me!

I love this sweet layout of Abby's fur-baby, Cooper. Isn't he just the cutest?!
I love all of the fun and bright elements on this layout.

And this card was just so sweet with the kite and clouds.

Take a moment and hop over to Abby's Midwest Memories blog to see these and all of her other fantabulous projects!

And make sure to stop by again tomorrow for more Challenge Me Monday inspiration and fun!

Happy Crafting!

  2. Will go ck out Abby's blog. I'm fond of Hot Air Balloons. Went to the Balloon Festival here yesterday morn. The balloons did not launch due to clouds but enjoyed it nonetheless because they allowed the public onto the field where the balloons were inflated. Photographed some wonderful balloons up close & even had my photo taken with the pilot of a balloon named the "Little Pirate."
