Thursday Tutorial- Making your own Baker's Twine

Hello everyone and welcome to another Thursday Tutorial.  Today I found an awesome video on You Tube on making your own Baker's Twine.  Baker's Twine is so popular right now.  I have some but not always the color I want.  With this idea you need a skein of white crochet thread (which is really cheap), permanent markers and an old ruler.  I tried this and it definitely works.  My suggestion is to make the outside lines close to the ruler edges and make sure you make them wide. I used  Sharpie and Bic markers.   My first two tries I had too much white but now it comes out great.

I used the orange twine I made to hang this mini Halloween banner.
Click on the image and you can see the twine better.
I also made these two different flowers.  Both were cut from  Mother's Day Bouquet.
I didn't even realize till I was doing this post that I missed one petal on the red one.
Guess that is  what happens when you are babysitting a 10 month old and crafting.  LOL
Hope you enjoy this tutorial and find it helpful.
Happy Craftin

  4. Your twine turned out great! I had seen this video before and made some but the back half of my "twine" was all white. Did I just not saturate it enough with the marker? How did you get it to go through? Just curious as I love this idea and already bought the yarn. LOL. TFS and if you have a second I'd love to hear your tip! live4scrappin at (gmail) dot com Thanks.

  7. I watched this video last week and I did try some with the markers that I had but it didn't work very well. I'm going to get the sharpies and try it again. So much cheaper than getting than ordering the Baker's Twine. Thanks for the info.

  9. Wonderful idea. Sharpies are great markers. Noticed this video only showed coloring on one side. Do you need to flip and color other side as well?

  11. Once I wrapped the twine. I did three stripes on each side of the ruler. The outside two need to be close to edges and then middle one. Don't make them too skinny. Once I unwrap I layed it out on scrap paper to check it. A couple times I had to touch a couple places up but after a couple tries and make it wider and heavier I didn't have to do this. Hope this helps!

I've always wanted that pack they have with like 20 to 40 different colors so I think I'm gonna just have to get that! TFS and keep up the awesome work. :0)
