Quick Tip Tuesday: Ribbon with a Flat Knot

Hello Quick Tip Friends.  I'm so glad you stopped by.  If you love adding ribbon to your cards as much as I do, then today's tip is for you.  I send a lot of cards through the mail and I hate it when I'm charged extra postage because the knot in the ribbon sticks up too much.  I found a video at Jewels Paper Jewels in which she shows a quick, easy way to add ribbon with a flat knot.

Start out with two lengths of ribbon.  One will wrap behind your mat; the other will be your "bow".

Tie a loose knot in the longer piece.

Slip the short piece under the knot.

Pull the ends of the long piece until it's tied the way you like.  You can move the short piece so that the ends are even on each side of the knot.

Tape the ends behind your mat (Robin of My Pink Stamper calls this the "cheater" method).
There it is - a nice flat knot.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Hugs and Happy Crafting,

  7. Finally, the tip that I have been wanting for so so so long. I can't tie a pretty bow for anything. I tried this right away worked perfect the first time. I can't thank you enough. I came here from Deanne's creative juices, she referred your site on how to tie an easy bow.
