Thursday Tutorial - Cricut Markers

Happy Thursday!
I hope everyone's week is going well.
This is Cicily, The Pink Dalmatian Scrapper, and this week on the tutorial I am featuring the Cricut Markers.
I'm not sure if there is anyone like me out there, but I have not ventured into this area with my Cricut.
I saw this video by Melody Lane Designs and was very impressed.
This week is the Fantabulous Cricut Back to School Crawl!
With that in mind, I thought I would give this technique a try.
I designed a card using my Gypsy. I made sure that the card base & mat were on separate layers from any other image as I would actually be cutting these out. I also made sure any different color markers I was using were on separate layers.

With Melody's tip in mind I put down scratch paper when I changed out my blade to the marker. Even if there is not paper loaded yet, it saves your Cricut from getting marked.

With the first color I selected "cut" and away my marker marked! I changed layers on my G without unloaded the mat & marked my image as well.

WITHOUT unloading my mat I put another scratch piece of paper down & changed the marker. Then selected that layer on my G & marked again.

Again I left the mat in, put down scratch paper & switched back to my blade. Went back to the card layer on my G & really cut this time.

I'm not thrilled with the blue color and that paper, but I only have the one set of markers to work with (for now!). Using markers will make me think differently about some of my Cricut cuts!
Oh the possibilities!

  1. Very cute! It's too bad they don't offer more shades of the basic colors but what's available works. I need to use mine more!
