Fantabulous Friday

Good Morning and welcome to another Fantabulous Friday!
I'm so happy that you stopped by for a visit here at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog!
Anxious to see what cartridge we are going to explore this week? It just so happens that I have a new cartridge I have been itching to play with. Unfortunately, my other social obligations have not allowed me the time to do so.......(ok....ok....so it's really laundry and scrubbing toilets....geeze...can't a girl dream?). Anyway, my new cartridge is Paper Lace! This cartridge has some beautiful cuts on it and I thought it would lend itself well to this week's challenge at FCCB....Support The Cause. You can read the instructions and enter your project for this challenge HERE.
Paper Lace is one of those cartridges that on first glance, you may think..umm, not for me. But, once you begin playing around with it, you may change the way you think! I think this is a cartridge that is going to offer some great cuts for card makers and scrapbookers alike. My first project is a card in honor of
Breast Cancer Awareness

This card shows off some of the great options on this cartridge. If you look through your handbook, you will notice that there are several options on each page. For example, the lace cut I used behind the word HOPE is on page 28. There are 3 different lace cuts on that one page, not to mention the shadows...this adds up to a lot of choices...which is a very good thing...we like choices!
The lace cut behind the ribbon is from page 49 and is actually designed to be a border. There are 3 different styles of lace on this page also!
Now, notice the little flower swag under the word HOPE. This is the Lace 1 option from page 49. I cut this out at 3/4" without using the shadow feature. There are a lot of cute little cuts similar to this flower that will make great embellishments for cards and scrap pages. Add a little glitter or a little bling and there you go!
Ok...if all these great features don't have you convinced yet...look again at the word HOPE. Paper Lace also has a great FONT! That's right...even a font! I don't know about you but I feel like I'm getting two carts in one when I get really great cuts AND a font all on one cartridge...yippee!
And....speaking of that Fabulous Font.....

I am one of those crafters who does not own the "Pink Journey" cartridge....so I used the old trick of cutting the & sign and snipping off the ends. This technique works great with the font on Paper Lace! This was a simple, quick project. I cut the & sign from pink vinyl at 7 1/2 inches, added some bling, some ribbon,
plug 'er in and all done! Easy- peasy as my granddaughter would say!

Ok...I think I promised something for scrapbookers too huh? Ok...you know those beautiful lacey cutout pages that you can find at the scrapping stores? The ones that run anywhere between 3 and 5 bucks for one page? Know the ones I'm talking about? Well, how about making you own?

I made this page using the Lace 1 option from page 22...again there are 3 different lace options on this page. I cut the shadow feature first using the Fit to Page button and it cut at 9 1/4 inches. I then cut the Lace feature with my setting at 9 1/4". Then I mounted it all to a background page. I think this turned out so pretty! I plan on using this in my grandson Blake's scrapbook....the one that is only a year and a half behind!

The shadow feature on this cart would be great for labels, tags or background mats to stamp your sentiments. Here's yet another option from Tammy at So Happy Scrappin'. Tammy used her Gypsy to weld together 2 shadows and created this wonderful card. You can see more details on Tammy's blog HERE.

Well, that about wraps it up for today.
Paper Lace is one of those cartridges that really deserves a few minutes of your "browsing time". Sit down with a cup of coffee or Diet Coke (caffeine of your choice) and take time to look through the handbook. Then come back and leave me a comment with a link to your creation...I can't wait to see what you come up with. I know it will be great!
Until next time....
Tanya

  6. Your projects are beautiful! I always seem to have trouble with those intricate cuts. I love your tip on using the & sign to make a causes ribbon though! I'm definitely going to keep that one in mind!
